BAKED BROCCOLI ON CHEESE

I saw the video flipping through Instagram, but it disappeared as quickly as it showed up. Thankfully I managed to jut down the oven temperature as for the rest; I got the idea, if not the recipe. It was delicious and clearly designed for people who do not get overly excited about broccoli.

Baked Broccoli On Cheese

broccoli florets sliced horizontally
extra virgin olive oil for drizzling
garlic cloves thinly sliced
salt and pepper to taste
1/3 cup grated Grana Padano cheese

• Blanch the broccoli slices for 5 minutes.
• Drain fully.
• Preheat oven to 450F.
• Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
• Lightly drizzle olive oil over the parchment.
• Scatter the garlic slices at intervals.
• Scoop up a pinch of cheese and drop it over the garlic slices.
• Place the broccoli slices on top of the cheese.
• Lightly season each mound with salt and pepper. You can always salt it again at the table, but don’t forget the cheese will be salty as well.
• Lightly drizzle each mound with olive oil.
• Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake it for 15 minutes. Baking time of course can vary depending on the amount of broccoli used.
• After 15 minutes take the pan out and using a large spatula bring the broccoli mounds together.
• If I recall correctly, there were breadcrumbs sprinkled on at this point, but breadcrumbs getting soggy from mingling with cheese... don’t appeal to me.
• Return the pan to the oven for 5 more minutes or until the broccoli on cheese has nice golden colour.
• Serve immediately.

It began with posting a few recipes on line for the family. "zsuzsa is in the kitchen" has more than 1000 Hungarian and International recipes. What started out as a private project turned into a well visited blog. The number of visitors long passed the two million mark. I organized the recipes into an on-line cookbook. On top of the page click on "ZSUZSA'S COOKBOOK". From there click on any of the chapters to access the recipes. For the archive just scroll to the bottom of the page. I am not profiting from my blog, so visitors are not harassed with advertising or flashy gadgets. The recipes are not broken up with photos at every step. Where needed the photos are placed following the recipe. Feel free to cut and paste my recipes for your own use. Publication is permitted as long as it is in your own words and with your own photographs. However, I would ask you for an acknowledgement and link-back to my blog. Happy cooking!
